Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steven Weis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Cro Crap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mirko Cro Crap will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steven Weis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mirko Cro Crap!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cro Crap.

Cro Crap shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Cro Crap with a flurry of punches that miss.
Cro Crap pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Weis is keeping the position for now.

Weis is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Weis stays in close to Cro Crap's body and controls the position.
Cro Crap tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Weis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cro Crap is keeping the position for now.
Cro Crap is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Weis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Cro Crap doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Weis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cro Crap's guard.
Cro Crap looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Weis puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Weis is keen to just control but Cro Crap is a slippery customer.

Weis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cro Crap keeps working.
Weis is taking a breather. Cro Crap says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Weis is looking to stall here but Cro Crap recovers full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cro Crap has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Weis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Weis wants to pass the guard but Cro Crap is keeping the position.

Weis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cro Crap wants to sweep but no luck.
Weis stops Cro Crap from standing up.
Weis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Weis drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cro Crap looks gassed!

Weis stands up.

Cro Crap changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Weis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Weis is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Weis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cro Crap wants to free his trapped foot but Weis is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Weis manages to get to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Cro Crap gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cro Crap is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Weis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Steven Weis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Weis wants to control but Cro Crap is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Weis manages to get to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cro Crap looking to sit in guard and control but Weis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Weis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cro Crap swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cro Crap is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Cro Crap keeps control of Weis as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Cro Crap manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Cro Crap breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cro Crap shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Cro Crap postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cro Crap with a flurry of punches that miss.
Weis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cro Crap has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Weis is proving hard to escape from.

Weis working for submissions but it's allowed Cro Crap to get to half guard.
Cro Crap is controlling the pace.

The fighters are battling for position here. Weis manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Weis is looking for a triangle here but Cro Crap uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Cro Crap looks up at the clock and then as Weis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cro Crap smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The referee asks Cro Crap politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cro Crap prefers to stall for the moment though.
Cro Crap laying and praying for a moment but Weis takes advantage and regains half guard.

Weis is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Cro Crap pulls his head out easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Weis is looking to improve his position.
Cro Crap is tying to control. Weis wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Weis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cro Crap.
Weis trying to control here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cro Crap has his takedown stuffed

and Weis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cro Crap is on top in guard.
Weis is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Steven Weis will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Cro Crap counters with a shoot takedown. Weis fights it but they end up in guard.

Cro Crap is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Weis has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Cro Crap is looking to defend but Weis has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Cro Crap! Weis pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Cro Crap taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Steven Weis!
