Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Zambidis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santana misses with a looping left. Zambidis has Santana up against the cage in a clinch.
Santana wants to break the clinch but can't.
Santana is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Zambidis breaks from the clinch.
Santana tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Zambidis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Zambidis uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Santana. Santana tries to clinch there but Zambidis circles away.
Santana throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Santana tries to clinch but Zambidis moves out of range. Santana throws a head kick but Zambidis moves out of range.
Santana tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Zambidis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Santana is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Santana is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana lands a good elbow from the bottom. Santana wants to stand up but Zambidis is controlling him. Zambidis is looking to stand up but Santana won't let him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Santana wants to stand and escape but Zambidis is having none of it. Zambidis trying to stand up but can't free himself from Santana's guard. Zambidis prevents Santana from getting back to his feet. Zambidis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Santana looks gassed! Santana trying to strike off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Zambidis wasn't doing enough on the ground. Santana tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Zambidis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santana tries to clinch but Zambidis moves away and Zambidis counters by clinching up. Zambidis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Santana tries to clinch up and Zambidis counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Zambidis tightens his grip and picks Santana up, before dumping him to the ground. Santana manages to land in guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Santana lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.

Zambidis wants to control from the top but Santana keeps moving. Zambidis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back. Santana is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Zambidis wants to control from the top but Santana keeps moving. Santana has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Santana striking from his own guard. Santana thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Santana is looking to stand up but Zambidis isn't so interested in that idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Zambidis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Zambidis wants to stand but Santana has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Santana is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Zambidis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Zambidis wants to stand but Santana is controlling his posture from full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Zambidis stops Santana from standing up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mike Zambidis will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Zambidis has hold of one of Santana's legs. Santana is fighting the takedown attempt but Zambidis gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Santana throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Zambidis won't allow Santana to get back to his feet. Zambidis trying to control but Santana is working from the bottom. Mike Zambidis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Santana looking to hit a scissor sweep but Zambidis is one step ahead there. Zambidis drops back looking for a leg! Santana is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Santana manages to kick Zambidis off! Zambidis jumps back into Santana's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana pushes Zambidis off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Zambidis rushes Santana and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Santana is trying to break free. Zambidis throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Santana blocks it with crossed arms. Santana wants to get back to striking at distance but Zambidis won't allow it.
Zambidis can't get the takedown.
Zambidis keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Santana's efforts to push away. Zambidis has hold of one of Santana's legs. Santana is fighting the takedown attempt but Zambidis gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Santana lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Zambidis!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santana swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
