Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Trevor Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlos Rahman!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rahman has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Barnes.
Barnes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Barnes throws a sloppy body shot
and Rahman counters with a right hand to the body.
Rahman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Barnes falls off balance throwing a combination
and Rahman counters with a right hand to the body.
Horrible takedown by Barnes or perhaps it was just good defense by Rahman which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Barnes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barnes swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Rahman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Trevor Barnes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from Barnes misses.
Barnes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rahman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Barnes throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rahman makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rahman jabs Barnes right on the nose. Barnes blinks but takes it well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rahman lands with a nice body punch.
Rahman uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Barnes.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Barnes shoots in but Rahman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rahman sends Barnes crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Rahman is motioning to the referee to let Barnes up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Barnes is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barnes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rahman tries to avoid it but Barnes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rahman to the ground. Rahman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Oh Barnes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rahman fakes the body blow, causing Barnes to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Barnes goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Carlos Rahman!
Carlos Rahman gave a mention to Gilop® in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
