Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eli Gabriel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicholas Thibeau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thibeau comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Amazing - Kanye West kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eli Gabriel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nicholas Thibeau!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gabriel throws a sloppy head kick and Thibeau moves out of range easily.
Gabriel takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Thibeau swats away the attempt to clinch by Gabriel.

and Thibeau counters with a left and a right that stings Gabriel.

Thibeau lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Gabriel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thibeau tries to avoid it but Gabriel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thibeau to the ground. Thibeau escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nicholas Thibeau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gabriel clinches.
Thibeau lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Gabriel backwards.
Thibeau can't break the clinch.
Gabriel pressing his opponent against the ropes.
Gabriel drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Thibeau gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Gabriel jumps guard but Thibeau stands there with Gabriel around his waist. Gabriel gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eli Gabriel. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gabriel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Thibeau sprawls well initially but Gabriel persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Gabriel wants to pass to mount but Thibeau is defending the position.
Thibeau is staying active underneath Gabriel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Thibeau scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Gabriel manages to mount him!

Thibeau is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thibeau punishes Gabriel's body with a nice straight punch.
Gabriel closes the distance and clinches up with Thibeau, looking for a takedown. Gabriel pushes Thibeau against the ropes but Thibeau circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Gabriel counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thibeau won't be happy with that.
Thibeau is trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Thibeau is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Gabriel wants to control but Thibeau is keeping him busy.
Thibeau is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Gabriel has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Thibeau pushes Gabriel away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gabriel gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Gabriel takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Gabriel drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gabriel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Thibeau looking for a guillotine here but Gabriel defends easily.

Gabriel thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gabriel wants to control from the top but Thibeau keeps moving.

Thibeau is trying to control the position but Gabriel postures up.
Gabriel slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Gabriel thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Thibeau can't do much from the bottom here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Thibeau doesn't manage to clinch there - Gabriel circles away.
Thibeau throws a series of strikes that have Gabriel backpedaling.


It looks like Eli Gabriel has been cut.
Thibeau lands with a shot to the body.

and Thibeau counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gabriel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Thibeau lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gabriel at a distance.
Gabriel drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

and Gabriel counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Thibeau!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Thibeau tries to control the position but Gabriel now has his back.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Thibeau is trying to get back to his feet but Gabriel has full control of the position and if anything, Thibeau has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Thibeau looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Thibeau has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Gabriel is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Thibeau is defending well though. Gabriel let's go of the attempt for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Thibeau covering up well and avoiding damage.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Gabriel throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Thibeau really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gabriel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Thibeau is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
