The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilard avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gilard gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Polo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Jambo Gilard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Polo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gilard avoids it really well and circles away.

Jambo Gilard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marko Polo.
Polo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Polo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Polo lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Gilard quite badly. Gilard pulls Polo in close trying to recover. Polo postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Gilard on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Gilard doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
