Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Lockheed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Carter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Lockheed!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lockheed moves into the clinch.
Carter working hard to break the clinch.

Lockheed breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lockheed shoots in but no luck this time.
Carter could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Carter lands a nice leg kick that just misses Lockheed's sensitive parts.
Carter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carter fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lockheed on the side of the head.
Carter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lockheed moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Lockheed changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lockheed thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carter is trying to escape the position but Lockheed is controlling the position.
Carter tries to improve position but can't.
Carter is breathing heavily.

Lockheed tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lockheed has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Lockheed stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Lockheed shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Carter manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Lockheed passes Carter's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lockheed in particular looking to stall.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Daniel Lockheed hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Carter thuds his right hand into Lockheed's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lockheed to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lockheed distracts Carter with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Lockheed gets to his feet - Carter follows without any prompting.
Carter checks the leg kick.
Lockheed shoots in but Carter avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lockheed avoids the head kick by Carter.
Lockheed connects with a body shot that sends Carter's belly button to the back.
Lockheed connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lockheed throws a right and a left that Carter avoids nicely.

Carter tries to keep at a distance but Lockheed has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lockheed has clasped his hands together around Carter's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lockheed controlling the position.
Lockheed working the body and head with strikes.
Lockheed staying calm.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Lockheed dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Lockheed.
Carter throws a combination that misses

and Lockheed holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Carter misses with a knee strike.
Lockheed pushes Carter back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Carter wants to break free but Lockheed has control.

Lockheed pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Lockheed darts in and clinches Carter up against the cage.
Lockheed is working for takedown but Carter is calmly controlling the position for now.
Lockheed holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lockheed breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Carter scores with a jab.
Johnny Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carter displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lockheed.

Lockheed closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carter quickly recovers to half guard.
Lockheed trying to mount his opponent but Carter defends it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lockheed connects with a nice short shot to Carter's temple.

Carter wants to control but Lockheed is keeping busy.

Lockheed is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Carter has managed to free his arm - good work.

Lockheed stands up from half guard.
Lockheed misses the shot to the body.
Lockheed sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
A punch combination from Lockheed misses.
Carter pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lockheed drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lockheed seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lockheed's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Lockheed decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Carter, up you get!
Lockheed shoots in for a double leg but Carter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Johnny Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Lockheed.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Carter enables Lockheed to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Carter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Daniel Lockheed has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lockheed is stalling in the full guard.

Lockheed keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Carter's head.
Lockheed's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Lockheed slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lockheed staying calm.
Lockheed works to advance to full mount. Carter defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Lockheed showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Lockheed fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Lockheed misses with a takedown attempt - Carter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Lockheed shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Lockheed sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Lockheed wants to work for an arm triangle but Carter is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lockheed moves nicely into side control.
Lockheed tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Lockheed has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Johnny Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lockheed throws a head kick but Carter moves out of range.
Carter lands a head kick. Lockheed smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Lockheed is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Carter's half guard.

Lockheed stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Carter avoids the head kick by Lockheed.

Lockheed darts in and clinches Carter up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lockheed jumps guard but Carter turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Lockheed is trying to pull guard but Carter has him pressed against the cage.
Johnny Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Lockheed.
Carter tries to throw a body punch but Lockheed avoids it by throwing Carter back against the cage.
Lockheed prevents a body shot from Carter.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lockheed has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Carter regains guard immediately.
Lockheed makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Lockheed controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Carter is trying to control the position but Lockheed postures up.

Lockheed stands and steps away. Carter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Lockheed misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lockheed shoots in looking for a takedown but Carter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lockheed's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Johnny Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lockheed is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Carter has his foot on Lockheed's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lockheed works his way back into a safe position though.

Lockheed decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Carter, up you get!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lockheed takes a swing at Carter's ribcage but misses.

Lockheed moves into the clinch.
Daniel Lockheed is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Lockheed tightens his grip and picks Carter up, before dumping him to the ground. Carter manages to land in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Daniel Lockheed comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lockheed has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
