PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Hammar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chance Hyun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is You are a douche. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Hammar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chance Hyun!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice straight punches there by Hyun. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hyun.
Hammar takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hyun swinging wildly here.
Hammar is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
No luck for Hammar with that takedown attempt.
Hammar tries to close the distance and clinch but Hyun swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hammar shoots in for a takedown but Hyun shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hyun walks into a jab.
Hyun misses with a series of wild punches.
No luck for Hammar with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Hammar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hyun lands with a kick to the temple. Hammar shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Jack Hammar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hyun takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hyun's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hyun duly obliges.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hyun misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hammar shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hyun defends it nicely.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Hammar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hyun wants to get back to his feet.
Hyun is looking to regain half guard here but Hammar keeps moving and retains side control.
Hammar tries to advance to mount but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hyun manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Hyun tries to get to full guard but Hammar has control of the leg.

Hammar is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hyun defends it well.

Hammar is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Hyun is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hammar pulls his head out easily.

Hammar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Hyun doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Hyun misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hammar landing knees to the body.
Hammar throws an elbow that misses.
Hyun looking to throw knees to the head but Hammar is blocking nicely.

Hyun is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Hyun wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hammar has him pressed against the cage.
Hammar pushes off an throws an elbow but Hyun leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Hyun swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Hyun blocks an elbow strike.
Hyun is looking to break free of the clinch but Hammar has double underhooks.

Hyun escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hammar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hyun throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hyun clobbers Hammar with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Hammar throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Hyun counters with a two punch combo.
Hyun swats away the attempt to clinch by Hammar.
Hyun takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hyun misses with a series of wild punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hammar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hammar is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hyun has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hammar seems to be working for a kimura but Hyun defends the submission attempt.

Hammar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hammar is breathing heavily.
Hyun wants to get back to his feet.

Hyun kicks off Hammar and gets to his feet.
Hyun fails to land with a series of punches.
Hyun lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hyun lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hammar circles away quickly and effectively.
Hyun scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Horrible takedown by Hammar or perhaps it was just good defense by Hyun which made him look bad.

Hammar throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hyun tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hammar is in Hyun's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jack Hammar will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Hammar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hyun looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hammar drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hyun looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hyun looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hyun!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hammar has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hyun has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Hyun wants to control his opponent's hands but Hammar gets his hands free.

Hyun manages to escape to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hammar moves into the clinch.
Hammar gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Hyun with an attempt at a knee that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Chance Hyun will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Hyun has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hammar off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Hammar shoots in looking for a takedown but Hyun manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hammar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Hammar closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hammar lands in his opponent's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hammar drops back looking for a leg! Hyun is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hyun manages to kick Hammar off! Hammar jumps back into Hyun's guard.

Hyun escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hammar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hammar maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Hyun could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Hammar has cracked it and Hyun is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Hammar!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jack Hammar!
