PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Huey Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fiodor Jemelianko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Huey Freeman has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Huey Freeman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Fiodor Jemelianko!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Freeman tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Jemelianko counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Freeman makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Jemelianko gets the takedown into side control.

Jemelianko goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Freeman has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jemelianko but great work by Freeman.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Freeman stands up and beckons Jemelianko to his feet.

Jemelianko shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Freeman is trying to defend but Jemelianko finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Freeman pushes Jemelianko off looking to stand but Jemelianko dives back in and keeps control.

Jemelianko is working for a kimura but Freeman is defending it quite comfortably.
Jemelianko wants to free his trapped foot but Freeman is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Freeman is looking to escape.

Jemelianko seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Freeman has recovered full guard.
Freeman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Jemelianko drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Freeman dives on top into guard.

Jemelianko looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jemelianko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jemelianko has a closed guard, preventing Freeman from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Freeman decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Freeman lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Freeman tries to clinch but Jemelianko moves out of range.
Huey Freeman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jemelianko looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Horrible takedown by Jemelianko or perhaps it was just good defense by Freeman which made him look bad.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Freeman is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jemelianko asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jemelianko swings around for an armbar but Freeman sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jemelianko's guard.

Freeman wants to stand but Jemelianko has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Jemelianko wants to sweep here but Freeman controlling him for the moment.
Freeman stops Jemelianko from standing up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Freeman wants to get up but he can't break Jemelianko's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Freeman stands and steps away. Jemelianko gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Huey Freeman will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fiodor Jemelianko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Huey Freeman.
I think Freeman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
