Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Krabbe Hansen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Woodhouse! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woodhouse gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Hansen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Woodhouse wants to sweep but no luck. Hansen landing with the ground and pound. Hansen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Woodhouse shoots and misses and Hansen counters with a stiff right hand. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hansen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hansen, as that shot connected.
A cross from Hansen lands. Hansen lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hansen throws a sloppy head kick and Woodhouse moves out of range easily. Woodhouse misses with a takedown and Hansen counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Krabbe Hansen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Woodhouse. Woodhouse looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hansen moves into the clinch. Hansen manages to break the clinch.
Hansen lands the left hand. Hansen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Woodhouse looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Woodhouse moves out of range of the body kick. Hansen darts in and clinches Woodhouse up against the cage. Hansen breaks the clinch.
Hansen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hansen lands in his opponent's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hansen throws a big elbow that misses. Hansen throwing strikes from guard but Woodhouse blocks nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hansen looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hansen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Woodhouse is keeping the position for now. Hansen controls from within his opponent's guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Woodhouse working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hansen. Hansen throws a strike but Woodhouse rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woodhouse wants to control from the top but Hansen keeps moving. Hansen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hansen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Woodhouse's guard. Woodhouse utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hansen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hansen controls from within his opponent's guard. Hansen is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hansen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Woodhouse is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hansen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Woodhouse is working an open guard so Hansen takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hansen with a jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Krabbe Hansen dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Hansen drops Woodhouse with a beautiful combination! Woodhouse stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Hansen is looking for the KO!
Woodhouse is rocked!
It looks like Josh Woodhouse has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Woodhouse fails with the takedown and Hansen counters with a lead uppercut that lands right on the button! Woodhouse goes down! Will Woodhouse beat the count? 3,4,5 - he's up! No problem. Let's get back to the action! Woodhouse is still on wobbly legs! Can Hansen finish him? Woodhouse lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hansen circles away quickly and effectively. Hansen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Woodhouse seems to have recovered his senses. Woodhouse blocks a head kick by Hansen.
Hansen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Woodhouse can do to turn this around? Woodhouse with a lazy takedown attempt and Hansen counters with a nice body shot. Krabbe Hansen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hansen throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Woodhouse stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Hansen throws a head kick but Woodhouse moves out of range.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Hansen! Woodhouse is out on his feet! Hansen rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Woodhouse is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Woodhouse is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Krabbe Hansen!
