Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kyle Cooper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mr Mystery! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cooper tries to close the distance and clinch but Mystery swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nice takedown defense from Mystery. No joy for Cooper on that attempt. Cooper pushes Mystery up against the cage in a clinch. Stalling in the clinch from Cooper.
Cooper seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Cooper jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mystery walks away with a smile on his face. Cooper gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Mystery lands a really nice looking cross but Cooper seems unphased.
Cooper moves into the clinch. Mystery tries to pull guard but Cooper forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Cooper looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Mystery tries to score a body lock takedown but Cooper shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Mystery tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cooper just stands there and leans against the cage. Kyle Cooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mr Mystery.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper tries to pull guard but Mystery won't allow it.
Cooper gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mystery.
Mystery is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cooper pulls him back up using the underhooks. Mystery wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Cooper stalls. Mystery tries to stall but Cooper uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cooper displaying some good clinch control by pressing Mystery up against the cage. Cooper breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cooper. Cooper tries to clinch up. A punch lands to the side of Cooper 's head but he takes it in his stride. Excellent takedown into side control there by Cooper. Mystery sneaks back into half guard. Cooper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mystery on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mystery looking for submissions off his back. Mystery actively working from the bottom here. Mystery looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mystery has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Cooper. Oh but Mystery has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Cooper goes limp - he's gone! Mystery jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
