PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mantis Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcus Bishop told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mantis Pierce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Bishop!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce misses with the combination.
Bishop looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bishop!
Pierce blocks a jab.
Pierce is looking to clinch but Bishop is avoiding it.
Mantis Pierce seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pierce looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pierce throws a push kick but Bishop slaps the foot to one side.

Pierce moves into the clinch.
Bishop blocks a punch to the side of the head.
With the fighters up against the cage, Bishop throws an elbow but misses.
Bishop tries to land a knee to the head but Pierce blocks with his arms.
Pierce is trying to break the clinch but Bishop is controlling him.
Pierce has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bishop avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Pierce avoiding damage as Bishop throws knees to the body.
Bishop has had enough of the clinch but Pierce keeps him there for the moment.

Pierce breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bishop takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Pierce uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bishop.
Bishop circles away from the clinch attempt.

Pierce shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Pierce not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Pierce seems to be working for a kimura but Bishop defends the submission attempt.
Pierce has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bishop keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pierce throwing shots but Bishop is blocking nicely.
Pierce lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Pierce is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bishop doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pierce.
Pierce has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The referee warns Bishop that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Pierce cracks Bishop with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Bishop defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Pierce.

Pierce looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
