Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sydney Bussel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shogun Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Sydney Bussel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Shogun Rua!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Rua misses.
Rua feints a jab promting Bussel to slip. Rua then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Bussel slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Bussel uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rua.
Rua misses the jab.
Bussel throws a jab when Rua was well out of range.
Bussel moves away from the strike by Rua.
Bussel checks a leg kick.
Shogun Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bussel moves into the clinch.
Bussel tries to land a knee to the head but Rua blocks with his arms.
Bussel prevents Rua from breaking the clinch.
Rua looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rua is trying to force a seperation but Bussel has the dominant position.

Bussel has closed the distance and engaged Rua in a clinch.
Rua wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bussel has him pressed against the ropes.
Rua tries to break free but Bussel pushes him back against the ropes.

Bussel breaks the clinch.
Rua swings widly with a right hand
and Bussel counters with a nice leg kick.
Bussel fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Rua looks gassed!
A slow jab from Rua misses its intended target.

Rua tries to keep at a distance but Bussel has taken the fight into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bussel throws a series of punches but Rua avoids them all with ease.

Bussel gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Bussel throws a head kick that half lands.
Bussel plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


Rua is rocked!

Bussel takes the fight into the clinch.
Rua is still on wobbly legs! Can Bussel finish him?
Bussel landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Rua seems to have recovered his senses.
Rua has had enough of the clinch but Bussel keeps him there for the moment.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Bussel obliges.

Bussel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Bussel lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Bussel darts in and clinches Rua up against the ropes.

Bussel manages to break the clinch.
Bussel lands a big head kick that sends Rua to the canvas! Bussel follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sydney Bussel!
Sydney Bussel decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
