Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ted Rigger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darby Dobbler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dobbler has chosen House of Pain - Jump Around as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ted Rigger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Darby Dobbler!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rigger stuffs the takedown.
Dobbler avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rigger moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Dobbler decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Rigger is trying to get back to full guard.

Dobbler keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rigger's head.

Dobbler slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Rigger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Dobbler moves in looking to clinch but Rigger pushes him off.
Rigger throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dobbler sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Dobbler shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dobbler shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rigger pinned against the cage. Rigger gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ted Rigger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darby Dobbler.

Rigger needs to keep his hands up - Dobbler had a free shot at his head there.

Dobbler dodges the punch combination from Rigger.
Rigger throws a head kick but Dobbler moves out of range.

Rigger lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Dobbler looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rigger is fending him off so far but Dobbler persists. Nope, Rigger circles away and we're back to standing.

Rigger throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rigger misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Some wild striking there from Rigger.
Rigger will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Darby Dobbler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rigger misses with a series of wild punches.
Dobbler avoids a punch combination nicely.
Dobbler doesn't manage to clinch there - Rigger circles away.

Rigger tries to keep at a distance but Dobbler has taken the fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darby Dobbler dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Dobbler scores with a sloppy right hand. Rigger should have avoided that one.
Rigger tries to bum rush Dobbler with a series of wild strikes but Dobbler uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dobbler cracks Rigger with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
No luck for Dobbler with that takedown attempt.
Rigger throws the kick towards the body but Dobbler avoids it.
Rigger throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dobbler misses with a takedown attempt - Rigger sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dobbler slips a jab and a cross from Rigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dobbler wants to clinch up but Rigger keeps it at a distance.

Dobbler tries to clinch but Rigger is having none of it.

Rigger swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Dobbler crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rigger - the referee stops the clock and Dobbler gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rigger. Dobbler manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Dobbler shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ted Rigger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darby Dobbler.

Dobbler tries to pull guard but Rigger holds him up against the cage and eventually Dobbler drops back down to his feet.
Rigger is pressed up against the cage. Dobbler has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rigger down to the mat. Rigger avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Dobbler takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Dobbler tries to clinch there but Rigger circles away.
Rigger pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Dobbler drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dobbler wants to control from the top but Rigger keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dobbler wants to get up but he can't break Rigger's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Dobbler is pushing down on Rigger's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rigger is fighting to maintain full guard but Dobbler has managed to sneak the leg through.
Dobbler wants to control but Rigger is keeping him busy.
Dobbler seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Dobbler decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Dobbler lands a head kick. Rigger smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Dobbler is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rigger stuffs the takedown attempt from Dobbler. Dobbler gets slowly back to his feet.

Dobbler fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rigger, pushing him back against the cage.

Dobbler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Dobbler looks to land a right hand but Rigger moved out of range.

and Rigger counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dobbler won't be happy with that.

Rigger is looking to take a break and control but Dobbler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dobbler tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ted Rigger will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Rigger tries to land a front kick but Dobbler steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

and Rigger counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Dobbler counters with a shoot takedown. Rigger fights it but they end up in guard.
Dobbler slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Dobbler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rigger keeps working.
Dobbler wants to stand but Rigger has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Dobbler is looking to stall here but Rigger recovers full guard.
Dobbler takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dobbler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rigger swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dobbler wants to control from the top but Rigger keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dobbler dodges the punch combination from Rigger.
Rigger misses with a hook. Dobbler ducked under it nicely.

and Dobbler counters with a three punch combo that has Rigger backing up. Rigger nods at Dobbler to acknowledge the strikes.

Dobbler tries to clinch but Rigger moves away
and Rigger counters with a series of strikes. Dobbler will be more careful next time no doubt.
Rigger tests Dobbler's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Rigger fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

No joy there for Rigger, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Dobbler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Dobbler wants to take a breather but Rigger is having none of it.
It looks like Dobbler is going to stand back up.

Dobbler seems to be working for a kimura but Rigger defends the submission attempt.

Dobbler works his foot free and advances to mount.
Dobbler controlling the pace for now.

Dobbler throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Rigger has his hands clasped together but Dobbler breaks the hold and Rigger is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Dobbler!
