Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Owen Elliot! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Neto Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Elliot avoids it really well and circles away. Elliot scores with a punch to the head. Elliot throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Owen Elliot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Elliot clobbers Sanchez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Sanchez on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Sanchez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Elliot uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sanchez.
Sanchez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sanchez fails to land the takedown. Elliot scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sanchez doesn't seem bothered though. Elliot lands with a good body shot. Elliot dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Sanchez gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Elliot throws a leg kick and Sanchez counters by moving into the clinch. Sanchez has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Elliot after a bit of a struggle. Owen Elliot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Neto Sanchez. Elliot wants to break free but Sanchez has control.
Sanchez wants a takedown but no success here.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Elliot. Elliot misses with a hook to the ribs.
Elliot lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sanchez backwards. Elliot is pressed up against the cage. Sanchez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Elliot down to the mat. Elliot avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Elliot scores with the left hand. Sanchez knows he should have avoided that one. Sanchez looks gassed! Elliot lands with a straight right. Sanchez didn't see that one coming.
Sanchez is rocked! Sanchez needs to keep his hands up - Elliot had a free shot at his head there. Sanchez is still on wobbly legs! Can Elliot finish him? The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sanchez bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Elliot comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Sanchez falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Sanchez was out before he hit the floor!
