Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Neho Kipei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brendan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Brendan Smith enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Neho Kipei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brendan Smith!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kipei gets a double leg takedown into Smith's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Smith trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kipei in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kipei doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kipei manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Smith is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Smith has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kipei off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Smith stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smith wants it to stay on the feet.

Smith drives through and clinches with Kipei against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kipei fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Smith slaps away a takedown attempt from Kipei, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Smith fails with an attempt to clinch.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kipei as he jumps to the side.

Kipei goes for a takedown in the clinch but Smith prevents it.

Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smith wants to clinch up but Kipei keeps it at a distance.

and Smith counters with an inside leg kick.

Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kipei tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Kipei's guard.
Kipei on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kipei tries to get out of the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brendan Smith wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kipei is trying hard to land a takedown here. Smith sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kipei paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Neho Kipei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kipei closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.

Kipei takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Kipei is nestled in close to Smith, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Kipei perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Smith is in trouble now - Kipei has advanced to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kipei breaks from Smith's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kipei wants to control the pace but Smith is squirming around nicely.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kipei cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neho Kipei dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Kipei looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Smith with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Smith kicks off Kipei and gets to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Smith counters with a big head kick but Kipei shrugs it off.

Kipei shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kipei showed some decent athleticism there.
Smith is doing well to control the position and prevent Kipei from advancing to side control.

Kipei lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Kipei has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Smith's face.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kipei, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
