Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brijwanth J! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Merrick McMasters! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McMasters shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has J pinned against the cage. J gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. J throws a nice looking combination but McMasters bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. J slow jab from McMasters misses its intended target. J with a hook. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A right-left combo lands from J. J takes a swing at McMasters's ribcage but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. McMasters misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. McMasters shoots in for a takedown but J shows good takedown defense. Brijwanth J has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Merrick McMasters. J misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McMasters.
McMasters changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. J tries to avoid it but McMasters manages to keep hold of a leg and drag J to the ground. J escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A big left from J misses. McMasters slips a jab and a cross from J.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. J stuffs the takedown. The crowd cheers as J lands an impressive looking overhand right. McMasters doesn't seem phased though. J throws a hook but McMasters avoids it easily. A big right from J misses. J missing with a left hand there. McMasters was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. McMasters slips a jab and a cross from J.

McMasters shoots in but no luck this time. McMasters fakes high and swings low for a body shot but J manages to avoid it. A swing and a miss from J. McMasters looks for a takedown but J sprawls well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. McMasters wants to clinch up but J keeps it at a distance. J throws a hook but McMasters blocks it. McMasters looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? J is fending him off so far but McMasters persists. Nope, J circles away and we're back to standing. Nice defenses there by McMasters. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nice sprawl there from J as McMasters shoots in. J is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. McMasters gets the takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

J rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McMasters moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Brijwanth J is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. J misses with a body shot.
Donk. J catches McMasters right on the button with a cross. J misses with a hook. McMasters ducked under it nicely. McMasters shoots in for a takedown but J shows good takedown defense. McMasters needs to keep his hands up - J had a free shot at his head there. McMasters gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and J counters with a stiff right hand. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. J throws a right and a left that both miss. J misses with a two punch combination.

and McMasters counters with a good low kick that J was not able to check. Brijwanth J is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Both fighters are breathing heavily. McMasters misses with a takedown attempt letting J counter with a right hand. McMasters fails with the takedown and J counters with a nice uppercut. J changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. J throws a series of strikes that have McMasters backpedaling.

McMasters misses with a takedown attempt and J counters with a lovely shot to the body. McMasters has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. McMasters fails with the takedown and J counters with a three punch combo that has McMasters backing up. McMasters nods at J to acknowledge the strikes.
McMasters is rocked! J throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McMasters sees it coming and avoids it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McMasters doesn't succeed with the takedown and J counters with a left and a right that stings McMasters. J misses with a right hand and McMasters counters with a nice double leg into side control. J won't be happy with that. McMasters tries to advance to mount but can't. McMasters trying to control the position but J is working away. McMasters is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. J knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McMasters on the ground. J pushes McMasters away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McMasters gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McMasters postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
McMasters is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. J knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. A lull in the action here as McMasters stalls from top position. McMasters has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for J! McMasters has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! J is forced to tap!
