Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Christian Cantrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Antoine Steel!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cantrell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cantrell has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Cantrell there as he acknowledges the shot.
Steel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Steel throws a head kick but Cantrell moves out of range.
Steel connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cantrell.
Steel swings for the body but Cantrell moves out of range.
Cantrell blocks the body kick.
Steel lands with a cross.
Steel lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cantrell's sensitive parts.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cantrell was well out of range. Poor timing from Steel.
Steel just misses with a punch to the body.
Cantrell moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Steel stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christian Cantrell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Steel cracks Cantrell with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Cantrell tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Steel pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Cantrell is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Antoine Steel!
