Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Sigurdson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Funk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tomas Sigurdson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Funk!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sigurdson throws a jab when Funk was well out of range.
Funk throws a series of punches but Sigurdson moves out of range.
Sigurdson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sigurdson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Funk.

Sigurdson gets a takedown into half guard.
Funk is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sigurdson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sigurdson's back!
Funk wants to control but Sigurdson is keeping busy.
Funk controls the position.
Funk missing with strikes.
Sigurdson turns into Funk and is now in his guard.

Funk is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Sigurdson forces his way into half guard.
Sigurdson slows the pace down in half guard.

Sigurdson is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Funk has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sigurdson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Funk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sigurdson wants to free his trapped foot but Funk is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Funk moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Sigurdson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Funk trying to control the position.
Sigurdson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Funk swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Funk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Sigurdson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sigurdson lands in his opponent's guard.
Funk wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sigurdson advances position into side control!
Funk is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Funk looks gassed!
Funk keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are battling for position here. Funk manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Sigurdson wants to control from the top but Funk keeps moving.
Funk keeping full guard, as Sigurdson tries to pass.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Funk is on top in guard.

Funk avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Funk sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sigurdson's guard.

Funk is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sigurdson defends it well.

Sigurdson is staying active underneath Funk, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Sigurdson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Funk is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sigurdson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Funk.
Sigurdson wants to control but Funk is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Funk looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sigurdson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Funk wants to stand up but Sigurdson is controlling the position.
Funk working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Sigurdson's thigh. Sigurdson counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Sigurdson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Funk drops back looking for a leg! Sigurdson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sigurdson manages to kick Funk off! Funk jumps back into Sigurdson's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Funk drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Funk jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sigurdson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Funk doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Funk manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sigurdson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Funk doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Funk manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sigurdson has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Funk doesn't defend quickly enough and Sigurdson has managed to lock this one up! Can Funk escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Sigurdson on a fantastic submission victory.
