Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Demetryos Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demetryos Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Ribeiro!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves has a takedown stuffed.

Ribeiro darts in and clinches Alves up against the cage.

Ribeiro breaks the clinch.
Ribeiro shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alves but Alves pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ribeiro displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Alves.
Alves defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ribeiro.

Alves darts in and clinches Ribeiro up against the cage.
Alves jumps guard but Ribeiro stands there with Alves around his waist. Alves gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demetryos Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alves is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ribeiro to keep the fight standing.

Ribeiro is trying to trip Alves. He has hold of a leg but Alves is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ribeiro persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Ribeiro decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Ribeiro shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alves as he avoids it easily.

Ribeiro has closed the distance and engaged Alves in a clinch.

Alves gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Alves landing some decent shots from guard.
Alves prevents Ribeiro from getting back to his feet.
Ribeiro has control of Alves's left arm, preventing Alves from doing any damage.
Alves throwing strikes but missing.

Ribeiro keeping moving, preventing Alves from controlling successfully.
Ribeiro thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Ribeiro striking off his back but it's not causing Alves any problems.
Ribeiro not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Alves stands up from Ribeiro's guard - Alves perhaps looking for a knockout.
Ribeiro fails with a takedown attempt.
Ribeiro looks gassed!
Alves fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ribeiro throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ribeiro looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alves is fending him off so far but Ribeiro persists. Nope, Alves circles away and we're back to standing.

Ribeiro gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Alves sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ribeiro's guard.
Alves is taking a breather. Ribeiro says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ground and pound from Alves.

Alves seems to be looking for submissions.
Alves uses his free foot to push down on Ribeiro's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ribeiro.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Alves is standing up, even though he is in mount.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Alves throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ribeiro's waist but Ribeiro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alves off to one side.
Horrible takedown by Alves or perhaps it was just good defense by Ribeiro which made him look bad.
Ribeiro is looking to clinch.
Ribeiro will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
No luck for Ribeiro with that takedown attempt.
Alves is looking to clinch but Ribeiro is avoiding it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Demetryos Alves dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ribeiro stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ribeiro wants it to stay on the feet.
Alves wants to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Alves looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Alves shoots in and bounces Ribeiro off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Alves passes into half guard.
Ribeiro is looking for a sweep. Alves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ribeiro wants to control but Alves is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ribeiro wants to improve his position but Alves is controlling well.
Ribeiro is breathing heavily.
Alves is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Alves is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ribeiro sees it coming and defends easily.
Alves trying to control from half guard but Ribeiro is working away.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Alves in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alves is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ribeiro!
Ribeiro tries to hold on but Alves postures up.
Alves wants to control the pace but Ribeiro is squirming around nicely.
Ribeiro working to try and regain half guard.
Ribeiro tries to lock up and control but Alves gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alves can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ribeiro is looking to escape.
Ribeiro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alves in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Ribeiro is squirming around, avoiding Alves's attempts to control the action.

Ribeiro is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Alves trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Demetryos Alves overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ribeiro is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ribeiro stops Alves from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Alves is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Ribeiro is forced to tap! Great finish!
