PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Five Sixteen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Conner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Conner told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matthew Five Sixteen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Conner!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conner throws a head kick but Five Sixteen moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Conner.
Conner pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Conner doesn't manage to clinch there - Five Sixteen circles away.
Conner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Five Sixteen clinches.
Conner looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Five Sixteen tightens his grip and picks Conner up, before dumping him to the ground. Conner manages to land in guard.
Five Sixteen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Five Sixteen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Five Sixteen gets to his feet. Conner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Five Sixteen blocks a head kick by Conner.
Conner thows a left - swing and a miss!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Conner pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Conner gets caught napping as Five Sixteen dives in and scores a takedown. Conner manages to retain guard.
Five Sixteen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Five Sixteen's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Five Sixteen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Conner's guard.

Five Sixteen is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Conner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Five Sixteen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Five Sixteen wants to finish this one by submission but Conner is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Five Sixteen.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Five Sixteen postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Conner looks a forlorn figure.

Conner is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Five Sixteen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matthew Five Sixteen dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Conner attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Conner is looking to land body kicks.
Conner throws a sloppy head kick and Five Sixteen moves out of range easily.
Conner lands a head kick. Five Sixteen smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Five Sixteen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Conner tries a head kick but it misses.

Five Sixteen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Conner's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Conner is breathing heavily.

Five Sixteen gets to his feet. Conner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Conner tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Five Sixteen has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Conner's face.
Matthew Five Sixteen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Conner is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Five Sixteen locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Conner is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Matthew Five Sixteen!
Matthew Five Sixteen retains his heavyweight title!
An intense looking Matthew Five Sixteen took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Thank you Jesus.'.
