Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connor has chosen Ça vaut mieux que d'attraper la scarlatine by Ray Venture as his entrance music. Jake Foster has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Connor!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Foster shoots in and gets a takedown into Connor's guard.
Connor utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Foster stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Connor swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Connor is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Foster with a flurry of punches that miss.
Foster postures up in Connor's guard and throws a big left but Connor blocks it.
Connor looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Foster throwing strikes but missing.
Foster works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Connor wants to get back to full guard.
Connor is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Foster will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Connor is looking to control Foster's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Connor avoid being mounted?
Foster seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Connor does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Foster is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Connor gets back to full guard.
Connor manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Foster wants to control but Connor is having none of it.

Connor breaks from Foster's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Connor wants to finish this one by submission but Foster is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Connor.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Connor looking to control but Foster is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Foster keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Foster sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Foster is staying active underneath Connor, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Foster gets full guard.

Foster throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Connor postures up and lands a big shot to Foster's brow.

Connor looking to sit in guard and control but Foster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Foster trying to control but Connor is working from the bottom.
Foster stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Connor swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Connor scores with a nice strike.
Foster moves away from the strike by Connor.

Foster feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Connor is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Connor lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Foster!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

BOOM! Connor connects with a massive shot to the dome!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Foster working to try and regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Connor will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Foster looks to throw the jab but Connor is out of range.

Foster decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Foster is pressing down on Connor's thigh, looking to free his foot. Connor is holding on for now.

Foster wants to work for an arm triangle but Connor is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Connor makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Connor.

Foster is fighting to break Connor's control of his arms but Connor is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Connor keeping moving, preventing Foster from controlling successfully.
Connor looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Foster trying to control the position from guard on top but Connor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Jake Foster has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Foster takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Foster moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Connor misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Foster shoots in and bounces Connor off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Foster throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Connor works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Foster has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Connor is trying to control the position but Foster postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Connor is on top in guard.

Foster looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Foster is looking to sweep but instead, Connor has passed into half guard.
Connor seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Connor is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Foster sees it coming and defends easily.

Connor lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Connor working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Foster is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Connor's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Connor's back!

Foster is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Connor defends it well.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Connor is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Foster rolls with it to try and escape but Connor cranks on the arm and Foster is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Connor!
John Connor spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
