Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruce Forsyth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Misst Fizel! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fizel throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Forsyth tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fizel is in Forsyth's guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Forsyth has control of Fizel's left arm, preventing Fizel from doing any damage. Fizel missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Fizel wants to control from the top but Forsyth keeps moving. Fizel looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Misst Fizel wasn't active enough on the ground. Sloppy strikes from Fizel. Those never looked like landing. A punch combination from Forsyth misses. Forsyth checks the leg kick nicely there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Forsyth tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. No luck with that takedown attempt from Fizel. Forsyth throws a head kick that misses. Fizel looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Forsyth is pressing down on Fizel's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Fizel wants to control from the top but Forsyth keeps moving. Fizel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fizel throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Forsyth manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fizel manages to get himself to full guard.
Forsyth controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Forsyth trying to control but Fizel is working from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fizel can do anything to dispel that myth. Forsyth tries to free his leg and advance position but Fizel is retaining full guard. Forsyth is pushing down on Fizel's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fizel is fighting to maintain full guard but Forsyth has managed to sneak the leg through. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Fizel is trying to maintain the position but Forsyth is very close to passing his half guard. Forsyth has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Fizel defend it? Forsyth steps over the head and cranks it - Fizel is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Forsyth!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bruce Forsyth! A less than humble Bruce Forsyth misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
