Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sami Hyypia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Theodore Sturgeon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hyypia kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hang out the stars in Indiana. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Sami Hyypia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Theodore Sturgeon! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hyypia looks to land a left hand but Sturgeon moved out of range nicely. Sturgeon misses with a takedown attempt and Hyypia connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Sturgeon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hyypia counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Sturgeon looks gassed! Donk. Hyypia catches Sturgeon right on the button with a cross. Sturgeon misses with a takedown attempt and Hyypia counters with a one-two to the body. Sami Hyypia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Theodore Sturgeon. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hyypia clobbers Sturgeon with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Sturgeon takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Theodore Sturgeon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hyypia misses with an uppercut. Hyypia throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hyypia lands a jab to Sturgeon's midsection. Hyypia swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Hyypia swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hyypia is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Hyypia dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hyypia looks to land a combination but Sturgeon avoids it well. Sami Hyypia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hyypia throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sturgeon. Hyypia lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sturgeon circles away quickly and effectively.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sturgeon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hyypia counters with a lovely straight right hand! Sturgeon is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hyypia is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Sturgeon. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hyypia jabs Sturgeon to the body, keeping him at a distance. Sturgeon takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Sturgeon takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Sturgeon gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Hyypia scores with a head kick.
Sturgeon closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hyypia fails to land with a series of punches.
A punch combination from Hyypia misses. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Hyypia showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sturgeon.
Hyypia scores with a nice strike. Hyypia swinging wildly here.
Hyypia is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Nice body punch from Hyypia. Hyypia is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Hyypia misses the target. Hyypia is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sturgeon. Sturgeon gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Sturgeon takes one on the button. This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Sturgeon has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hyypia finds it's way round the side to connect with Sturgeon's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sami Hyypia dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Sturgeon on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Hyypia throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sturgeon. Hyypia is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sturgeon can do to turn this around? Hyypia with a nice cross. Hyypia lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Hyypia scores with a jab to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hyypia drops Sturgeon with a beautiful combination! Sturgeon stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Hyypia is looking for the KO!
Sturgeon is rocked!
It looks like Theodore Sturgeon has been cut. Sami Hyypia is winning the standup battle so far. Sturgeon is breathing heavily. Hyypia lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sturgeon at a distance.
Sturgeon is still on wobbly legs! Can Hyypia finish him? Hyypia is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Sturgeon flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Sturgeon is out cold! Hyypia holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sami Hyypia! Sami Hyypia seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
