Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sonny Hills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Humberto Montes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Humberto Montes will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sonny Hills!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Humberto Montes!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Russell Pearce and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hills on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Montes throws a right and a left that Hills avoids nicely.
Montes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hills moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
No joy there for Montes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hills tries a head kick but it misses.
Montes lands a glancing blow to the side of Hills's head.
Hills dodges the punch combination from Montes.
Hills is trying hard to land a takedown here. Montes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Montes gets a double leg takedown into Hills's guard.
Hills pulls Montes in close to his closed guard and prevents Montes from doing any damage or advancing position.
Montes is looking to stand up but Hills won't let him.
Hills managing to control the position.

Montes stands up and waves to Hills to follow him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Montes throws a series of punches but Hills avoids them all with ease.

Montes manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hills on his heels. He'll look to pass Hills's guard now, I'm sure.
Montes wants to control from the top but Hills keeps moving.
Hills looking to hit a scissor sweep but Montes is one step ahead there.
Hills preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Montes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hills is proving hard to escape from.
Hills pulls Montes in close to prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Sonny Hills just wasn't active enough.
Montes cracks Hills with an open hand slap.
Montes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hills takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Montes throws a series of strikes that have Hills backpedaling.
Montes connects with a solid leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hills throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Montes was covering up waiting for the punch and Hills finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hills stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Montes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hills's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hills postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Montes pushes Hills off and gets back to his feet.
Montes circles away from the clinch attempt.
Montes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Montes scores with a three punch combo!
Montes swinging wildly here.
Montes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hills circles away quickly and effectively.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hills showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Montes.
Montes swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hills shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Montes sprawls well. Montes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hills gets slowly back to his feet.
Hills throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Montes's waist but Montes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hills off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sonny Hills. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Montes lands with a straight right. Hills didn't see that one coming.
Hills swings for the body but Montes moves out of range.

Hills has managed to clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Montes goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hills tries to pull guard but Montes holds him up against the cage and eventually Hills drops back down to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hills gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Montes regains guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Humberto Montes dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hills dodges the punch combination from Montes.

Hills shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Montes looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Hills has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Montes is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hills.

Montes looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Montes holding both Hills 's hands and preventing any damage.
Hills has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Montes's body.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hills's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Montes staying busy and making it hard for Hills to control.

Hills working for the choke.

Hills is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Montes is defending well though. Hills let's go of the attempt for now.
Hills gets his hands free as Montes looks to control.
Montes wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hills somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Montes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hills. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Montes is in a bad position with Hills working for a choke. Montes manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Hills looking for a guillotine here but Montes defends easily.
Montes would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Montes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sonny Hills dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Montes lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Montes is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Hills throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Montes's waist but Montes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hills off to one side.
Hills fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Montes misses with a wild combination.
Montes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Montes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Montes stuffs the takedown.

Hills avoids a punch combination nicely.

Hills shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Sonny Hills overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Montes is controlling Hills's trapped leg to prevent Hills from advancing to side control.
Hills trying to mount his opponent but Montes defends it.
Hills trying to control the action but Montes is working from the bottom.

Hills throwing shots but Montes is blocking nicely.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Sonny Hills just wasn't active enough.
Montes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Montes throws a one two combo.
Hills closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Hills throws a head kick that misses.

Hills gets caught napping as Montes dives in and scores a takedown. Hills manages to retain guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Montes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hills tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hills lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Montes!
Montes is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Hills can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Montes is looking to escape.
Hills throws some wild stikes that Montes manages to avoid easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hills thowing shots but they're missing.

Hills jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Montes is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Montes and Hills has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Montes can't do much from the bottom here.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Humberto Montes.
I think Montes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
