1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Samuel Adams! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter gets a takedown into half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Carter not landing any meaningful shots this time. Adams is looking for a sweep. Carter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Carter missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Carter is just content to waste time from the top position. Adams takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Adams bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carter's guard. Carter throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Adams wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carter has an active guard here but Adams has managed to pass into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adams is keen to just control but Carter is a slippery customer. Carter is trying to stand up here but Adams is controlling him well. Adams prevents Carter from improving his position. Carter actively working from the bottom here. Carter on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carter tries to get out of the position. Adams thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Carter tries to get to full guard but Adams has control of the leg. Adams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Adams takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Adams lands a heavy elbow. Adams controlling the position easily from mount. Adams is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Carter can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carter is looking to improve his position but Adams isn't that keen on the idea. Adams wants to control the pace but Carter is squirming around nicely. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carter is trying to escape the mount.

Adams looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carter is fending him off so far but Adams persists. Nope, Carter circles away and we're back to standing. Carter shoots in looking for a takedown but Adams manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carter's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Jimmy Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Carter closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Carter lands in his opponent's guard. Carter throwing strikes but missing. Adams kicks Carter off and gets to his feet. Carter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Adams tries to avoid it but Carter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Adams to the ground. Adams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Carter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Adams sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carter somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Adams moves into the clinch. Adams tries for a takedown. No joy.
Adams gets control of Carter's arms and successfully pulls guard. Adams will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter won't allow Adams to get back to his feet. Adams is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carter is aware though and is defending well. Samuel Adams has got the better of the ground game so far. Carter trying to control but Adams is working from the bottom. Adams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Carter tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Adams has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Carter tries to hold on but Adams postures up. Carter is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Adams landing punches. Adams wants to control the pace but Carter is squirming around nicely. Adams controlling his opponent. Adams working Carter over with strikes here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A nice elbow there by Adams. A nice elbow there by Adams. Carter is looking to improve his position but Adams isn't that keen on the idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adams can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carter is looking to escape. Adams landing strikes from the mount and Carter is in trouble! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Adams cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Carter is rocked! Adams controlling from mount. Adams trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Carter is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Adams working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Carter regains half guard. Adams blocks the strikes from Carter.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Samuel Adams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Carter misses with a takedown attempt - Adams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Carter shoots and misses and Adams counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carter won't be happy with that. Carter seems a little lost for a moment, as Adams dominates the positioning. Carter manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Carter manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Adams's corner is telling him to maintain position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Adams wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Samuel Adams has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Adams looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Adams moves into the clinch successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adams has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Carter is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Adams lands a takedown into guard.

Adams trying to control but Carter is working from the bottom. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Carter isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Adams stacks Carter on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Adams! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Carter misses with a strike from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Carter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Adams wants to control but Carter is keeping him busy. The ground and pound from Adams seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adams looks up at the clock and then as Carter takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Adams smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Carter stops Adams from passing to mount. Carter is trying to get back to half guard. Carter is not content to let Adams control the position. Carter is looking for a sweep. Adams wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carter, who protects the arm well. Adams wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carter keeps working.

Carter is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Jimmy Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Samuel Adams is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Carter is trying to improve his position.
