The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vieira avoids the head kick by Velasco.

Vieira breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Velasco throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vieira's waist but Vieira gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Velasco off to one side.
Vieira moves in looking to clinch but Velasco pushes him off.

Velasco avoids the head kick by Vieira.
Velasco tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vieira sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Velasco somewhat.
Vieira shoots in but no luck this time.

and Vieira counters with a good low kick that Velasco was not able to check.

Velasco gets a clinch.
Vieira is struggling to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vieira breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Velasco dives in and grabs Vieira's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vieira pushes down on Velasco's head and hops out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leo Vieira dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Vieira throws a right and a left that both miss.
Vieira throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Velasco.
Leo Vieira seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Velasco leaves Vieira with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Velasco fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vieira avoids it really well and circles away.

Velasco forces Vieira back against the cage and clinches.
Vieira tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Velasco avoids it.
Velasco tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Vieira just stands there and leans against the cage.
Velasco is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Vieira to keep the fight standing.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Juan Velasco just wasn't active enough.

Vieira rushes Velasco and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Velasco escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Vieira throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Velasco was covering up waiting for the punch and Vieira finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Velasco controls Vieira momentarily but Vieira frees himself.

Vieira shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Velasco sprawls well. Velasco wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Vieira gets slowly back to his feet.

Vieira throws a sloppy head kick and Velasco moves out of range easily.
Velasco throws a right hand that Vieira ducks under and follows up with a left that Vieira also avoids with ease.
Vieira shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Velasco pinned against the cage. Velasco gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Velasco shoots in looking for a takedown. Vieira tries to sprawl out of it but Velasco keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vieira manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That was a close second round but I would say that Juan Velasco will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Velasco blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Velasco is pushing Vieira up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Velasco gets control of Vieira's arms and successfully pulls guard. Velasco will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Vieira passes Velasco's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vieira is trying to control. Velasco wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Velasco moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Velasco working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vieira doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vieira manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Velasco is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vieira is trying to control the action in half guard but Velasco is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Velasco is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Leo Vieira comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vieira has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
