PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Borisov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lath Hoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Borisov comes to the cage accompanied by Blunt - The Iron Maiden. Hoy has chosen Go Ninja-Vanilla Ice as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Borisov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lath Hoy!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Borisov.
Borisov shoots in looking for a takedown. Hoy tries to sprawl out of it but Borisov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hoy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Borisov is defended easily by Hoy.
Borisov tries to close the distance and clinch but Hoy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hoy cracks Borisov with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Hoy connects with a single shot there.
Borisov misses with a straight left.
Borisov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hoy's waist but Hoy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Borisov off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Borisov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hoy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hoy lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Borisov keeping moving, preventing Hoy from controlling successfully.

Hoy wants to control from the top but Borisov keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lath Hoy hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hoy connects with a right hand. Borisov shakes it off.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hoy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Borisov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hoy is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Hoy has gone for a leg lock! Borisov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hoy's guard.

Hoy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Borisov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Borisov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hoy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Borisov has managed to get both his arms back between Hoy's legs - danger averted.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ivan Borisov will probably get the nod.

Hoy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Borisov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hoy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hoy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
