PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Rotan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Greve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Greve told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivan Rotan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Greve!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rotan tries to clinch but Greve is having none of it.
Nice sprawl there from Greve as Rotan shoots in.
Greve fails with a takedown attempt.

and Greve counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Greve.
Greve wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rotan has him pressed against the cage.
Rotan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Greve gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Rotan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rotan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Greve is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Rotan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Greve has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Rotan has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Greve doesn't defend quickly enough and Rotan has managed to lock this one up! Can Greve escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Rotan on a fantastic submission victory.
