Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carwin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Carwin lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Patton sprawling to the canvas. Carwin follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Patton hang on? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Patton flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Patton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Patton is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Patton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carwin is working away from the top position though. Patton keeps control of the position for the meantime.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Mike Patton hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Carwin throws a left and a right that both miss
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Carwin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Carwin misses with a double jab
and Patton holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Patton has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Carwin uses from the top position. Patton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Carwin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Patton seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Patton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carwin defends well.
That's one minute gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Patton holds on and takes a little breather. Patton is looking for a triangle but Carwin pushes his legs off easily.
Patton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Patton pushes Carwin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Patton slips a jab and a cross from Carwin.
Carwin fails to land with a series of punches.
A combination from Patton does no damage. Carwin throws a series of punches but Patton moves out of range. Patton pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carwin gets tackled into the cage by Patton. Patton maintains the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Carwin blocks a body shot from Patton. Carwin is trying to break free. Carwin prevents a body shot from Patton. Come on Patton - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Carwin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Patton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Carwin thuds a left hand into Patton's body. Patton looks gassed! Carwin lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Patton goes down and covers up as Carwin starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Carwin! Frank Carwin decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
