Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Five Sixteen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathaniel Price (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Price has chosen Thunderstruck as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathaniel Price!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Price closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Five Sixteen wants to control but Price postures up.
Five Sixteen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Five Sixteen wants to get back to his feet.
Price sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Five Sixteen defending well though.
Five Sixteen wants to improve his position but Price is controlling well.
Price trying to pass the guard but Five Sixteen defending well.
Five Sixteen trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Five Sixteen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Price wants to stand but Five Sixteen is controlling his posture from full guard.
Price pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Five Sixteen is keeping the position for now.
Five Sixteen wants to sweep but no luck.

Five Sixteen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Price stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Five Sixteen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Five Sixteen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Price wants to pass the guard but Five Sixteen is keeping the position.
Five Sixteen keeping moving, preventing Price from controlling successfully.
Five Sixteen is trying to control the position but Price postures up.
Five Sixteen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Price's guard.

Price is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Price looks gassed!
Price can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Five Sixteen controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Matthew Five Sixteen wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Price throws a half hearted mid kick.
Five Sixteen slaps away a takedown attempt from Price, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Price fails with the takedown

and Five Sixteen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Five Sixteen passes to full mount!
Price is looking to improve his position but Five Sixteen isn't that keen on the idea.
Price has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Five Sixteen working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Price with a poor takedown

and Five Sixteen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Five Sixteen.
Price wants to get back to his feet but Five Sixteen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Price working for a triangle but Five Sixteen defends it easily.
Price keeping moving, preventing Five Sixteen from controlling successfully.
Price is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Five Sixteen is pressing down on Price's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Price is breathing heavily.

Five Sixteen is trying to keep Price in close.
Five Sixteen pulls Price in close to prevent any damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Five Sixteen wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Matthew Five Sixteen just wasn't active enough.

Price rushes Five Sixteen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Price manages to pull guard.

Five Sixteen looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Five Sixteen stands up and waves to Price to follow him.
Price tries to close the distance and clinch up but Five Sixteen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Price closes this distance looking for a takedown but Five Sixteen circles away.
Price misses with a takedown

and Five Sixteen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Price's guard.
Matthew Five Sixteen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathaniel Price.
Five Sixteen passes Price's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Five Sixteen stalling away here and it's allowed Price to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Five Sixteen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Five Sixteen stands up from Price's guard - Five Sixteen perhaps looking for a knockout.
Five Sixteen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Price circles away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nice takedown defense from Five Sixteen. No joy for Price on that attempt.

Five Sixteen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Price to the mat! Price manages to get full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Five Sixteen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Price's guard.

Five Sixteen seems to be working for a kimura but Price defends the submission attempt.

Five Sixteen seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Price is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Matthew Five Sixteen!
