Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Gruberman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommi Fors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ed Gruberman had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ed Gruberman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tommi Fors!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fors throws a head kick that misses.
Gruberman could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gruberman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Fors on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Fors wants to control but Gruberman passes into side.
Gruberman has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Fors!

Gruberman jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Fors is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Fors and Gruberman has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Gruberman is pressing down on Fors's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fors is holding on for now.

Gruberman not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Gruberman wants to control but Fors is keeping him busy.
Fors is controlling Gruberman's trapped leg to prevent Gruberman from advancing to side control.
Gruberman is pressing down on Fors's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fors is holding on for now.

Fors tries to roll over but Gruberman keeps him under control.

Gruberman stands up and waves to Fors to follow him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fors fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fors avoids a punch combination nicely.
Fors goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Gruberman shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fors works his way to full guard. Good work.
Fors bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gruberman's guard.
Gruberman has control of Fors's left arm, preventing Fors from doing any damage.
Gruberman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Gruberman is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ed Gruberman dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Gruberman is looking for a kimura but Fors is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gruberman to get the leverage.

Gruberman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Gruberman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fors defends it well.

Gruberman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fors is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Gruberman looks up at the clock and then as Fors takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gruberman smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Fors is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gruberman asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Fors is trying to control Gruberman's posture but Gruberman avoids it.

Fors bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Fors is trying to control but can't.
Ed Gruberman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fors is pressing down on Gruberman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Gruberman stops Fors from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gruberman is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gruberman looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Fors is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fors wants to stand but Gruberman is controlling the position.

Gruberman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gruberman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Fors goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


It looks like Ed Gruberman has been cut.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gruberman.
Gruberman swats away the attempt to clinch by Fors.
Gruberman is looking to score with low kicks.

Fors knocks Gruberman to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fors decides to stand back up. Fors steps back and let's Gruberman get back to his feet.
Oh Gruberman is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Gruberman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Gruberman seems to have got his legs back now.
Gruberman throws some wild stikes that Fors manages to avoid easily.
Fors can't escape the position.
Fors wants to control but Gruberman is having none of it.
Fors manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Gruberman is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fors doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gruberman.

Gruberman tries to bum rush Fors with a series of wild strikes but Fors uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Gruberman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fors keeps working.

Fors is looking to stand up but Gruberman isn't so interested in that idea.
Gruberman wants to control from the top but Fors keeps moving.
Fors has a closed guard, preventing Gruberman from standing up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A combination from Fors does no damage.
Fors tries a head kick but it misses.
Fors fails in his attempt to clinch.

Fors rushes Gruberman and presses him up against the cage.
The is referee keeping an eye on Fors - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Fors jumps guard.
Gruberman is pushing down on Fors's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fors is fighting to maintain full guard but Gruberman has managed to sneak the leg through.
Fors trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Fors really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fors is trying to stand up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tommi Fors comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gruberman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
