PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Azell Harshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iso Paha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harshaw kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Got Money. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Azell Harshaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Iso Paha!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paha lands a lovely overhand right.

Harshaw drives through and clinches with Paha against the cage.
Harshaw prevents a takedown attempt there.
A nice left hand lands by Paha.

Paha has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Harshaw uses from the top position.
Harshaw wants to control from the top but Paha keeps moving.
Paha bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Harshaw's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Paha darts in and clinches Harshaw up against the cage.
Paha tries to break the clinch but Harshaw is controlling the position.
Paha wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Harshaw has him pressed against the cage.

Paha goes for a takedown attempt but Harshaw pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Paha lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Paha lands with an uppercut that bounces Harshaw off the cage and back into rage.
Harshaw throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Harshaw shoots for a double leg takedown but Paha sprawls well. He's pushed Harshaw's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Paha throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Harshaw decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Harshaw is breathing heavily.
Paha wants to get back to his feet.
Paha is controlling Harshaw's trapped leg to prevent Harshaw from advancing to side control.
Paha wants to improve his position but Harshaw is controlling well.
Paha is pressing down on Harshaw's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Harshaw is looking to improve his position but Paha isn't that keen on the idea.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paha breaks from Harshaw's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Paha takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Harshaw bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Paha manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Harshaw manages to get himself to full guard.
Paha has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Harshaw tries to stand but Paha is controlling from the bottom.
Harshaw loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Harshaw drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Harshaw jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Paha throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Paha controls Harshaw momentarily but Harshaw frees himself.
Paha is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Paha looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Harshaw with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Paha is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Paha is landing with some decent strikes but Harshaw is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Iso Paha has got the better of the ground game so far.

Harshaw is in a horrible position here. Paha smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Let's hope that Paha has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Iso Paha just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Harshaw drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Harshaw moves out of range as Paha strikes.

The crowd cheers as Paha lands an impressive looking overhand right. Harshaw doesn't seem phased though.
Harshaw will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Iso Paha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Harshaw decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Paha's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Paha throws a nice looking combination but Harshaw bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Paha lands with an overhand left.
Harshaw uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Paha.
Harshaw takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Paha escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Paha cracks the inside of Harshaw's front leg.
Paha fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Harshaw.
Paha comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Paha shoots and misses
and Harshaw counters with a big head kick but Paha shrugs it off.
Paha ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Harshaw takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Paha, as that shot connected.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Paha shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Harshaw as he avoids it easily.
Paha wants to clinch.
Harshaw takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Paha tries to clinch there but Harshaw circles away.
A nice leg kick lands there from Paha.
Nice sprawl there from Paha as Harshaw shoots in.

and Harshaw decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Paha's guard.

Paha changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Harshaw shoots in looking for a takedown. Paha tries to sprawl out of it but Harshaw keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Paha manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Harshaw is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Paha fails to land with a series of punches.
Paha lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Paha keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Harshaw is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Paha tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Harshaw swivels and escapes.
Azell Harshaw is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Paha tries to clinch there but Harshaw circles away.
Paha doesn't manage to clinch there - Harshaw circles away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Paha, right into the meat.
Paha comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Harshaw tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Paha closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Azell Harshaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Iso Paha comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Paha winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
