Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luna Soleil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harvey Pekar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pekar comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dead Joe, by The Birthday Party kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luna Soleil! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Harvey Pekar! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soleil fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Pekar shoots and misses and Soleil counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Harvey Pekar has been cut. Pekar shoots and misses and Soleil cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Pekar is rocked! Pekar misses with a low kick. Soleil attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Soleil rushes Pekar and presses him up against the cage. Soleil breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Soleil throws a solid leg kick but Pekar takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Soleil. A jab from Soleil misses. Soleil bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Pekar's head. Soleil looks for the body kick but Pekar saw that one coming. Soleil tries to bum rush Pekar with a series of wild strikes but Pekar uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Pekar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Soleil is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pekar with a poor takedown and Soleil moves into the clinch. Luna Soleil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harvey Pekar. Pekar struggles to land a body shot inside as Soleil controls his hands.
Pekar has Soleil pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pekar pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Soleil tumbling to the mat - Pekar dives into Soleil's guard. Soleil looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pekar is one step ahead there. Pekar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Soleil is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pekar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Soleil tries to get to full guard but Pekar has control of the leg. Pekar works his way into side control. Soleil is trying to improve his position. Pekar is chipping away with strikes.
Soleil is looking for a sweep. Pekar working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Pekar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Soleil, who protects the arm well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Soleil is trying to control Pekar's posture but Pekar avoids it. Soleil manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Soleil is looking to control Pekar's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Soleil avoid being mounted? Soleil is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pekar's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pekar's back! Soleil is trying to stick to Pekar's back but Pekar is turning into Soleil. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Soleil's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Pekar. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Pekar thows a big elbow that misses. Soleil is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pekar tries to get to full guard but Soleil has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luna Soleil dominated that round. The cut man is working on Harvey Pekar's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Soleil takes a swing at Pekar's ribcage but misses. Pekar has his takedown stuffed and Soleil counters with a left and a right that stings Pekar. Soleil closes the distance and clinches. Pekar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Soleil smiles and moves away.
Pekar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Soleil counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Pekar! Luna Soleil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harvey Pekar. Soleil looking for a guillotine from mount but Pekar is having none of it. Soleil lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Pekar is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Pekar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soleil dominating with strikes here. Soleil lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Soleil is landing with some decent strikes but Pekar is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. BOOM! Soleil connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Pekar distracts Soleil with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Soleil tries to land a sweep but no joy. Soleil scores with a short punch from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Pekar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Soleil is keeping the position for now. Soleil is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Pekar keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Soleil's head. Pekar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soleil swivels though and keeps the full guard. Soleil wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pekar misses with a takedown and Soleil counters with a three punch combo that has Pekar backing up. Pekar nods at Soleil to acknowledge the strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Soleil throws a leg kick but Pekar checks it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Soleil is nestled in close to Pekar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Pekar is not content to let Soleil control the position. Soleil controlling the action here. Pekar is looking to improve his position.

Pekar is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Soleil has managed to free his arm - good work. That's three minutes gone in the round. Pekar working the head and body with strikes. Pekar is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Soleil knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Pekar working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Pekar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Soleil, who protects the arm well. Soleil tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pekar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Not really close to a finish though. Soleil throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Harvey Pekar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Pekar doesn't succeed with the takedown and Soleil counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Soleil. Luna Soleil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Luna Soleil. Well Soleil has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
