Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, John Barris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jean Roqua! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roqua has taken the fight to the clinch.
Barris changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Roqua fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Barris avoids the head kick by Roqua.
Barris looks for the body kick but Roqua saw that one coming. Barris fails with the takedown and Roqua counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Roqua is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Barris can't fight it off and eventually Roqua manages to take the fight to the floor. Barris looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Barris is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Roqua defends well. Barris has a closed guard, preventing Roqua from standing up. Barris throws his legs up looking for a submission but Roqua uses it to pass to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barris manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Roqua is trying to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barris wants to lay and pray for a moment but Roqua keeps working. Roqua wants to control but Barris is keeping busy and won't allow it. Barris works his way into full mount! Barris swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Roqua is now in Barris's guard. A big mistake from Barris there, giving up the dominant position!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roqua gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Roqua wants to stand but Barris has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Barris throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Barris is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Roqua is aware though and is defending well. Roqua trying to control but Barris is working from the bottom. Barris looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barris has his foot on Roqua's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Roqua works his way back into a safe position though. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Roqua has eaten all the pies! Roqua drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Barris manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Roqua has Barris in his guard. Roqua is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Barris forces his way into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Roqua tries to roll over but Barris keeps him under control. Barris keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Barris works his way into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Barris throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Barris passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Roqua! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Barris dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Barris doesn't succeed with the takedown and Roqua counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Roqua. Roqua wants to pass the guard but Barris is keeping the position. Barris looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Barris looking for a sweep. Not yet Barris, not yet. Barris keeping moving, preventing Roqua from controlling successfully. Roqua is working Barris over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. John Barris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Roqua stands up from guard. Let's bang! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Roqua scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Roqua is trying to control the action in half guard but Barris is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Barris is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Roqua rolls with it to try and escape but Barris cranks on the arm and Roqua is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
