PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Sanderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanderson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I Run the Military kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Sanderson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanderson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jones quickly recovers to half guard.
Sanderson is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanderson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Jones is not content to let Sanderson control the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dan Sanderson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

You can see the frustration on Sanderson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sanderson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jones kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Sanderson thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Sanderson stalling away here and it's allowed Jones to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Sanderson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sanderson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sanderson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Sanderson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Jones shoots in but Sanderson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
