Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vlad Czosnek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quinton Alexander! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Czosnek misses with a right hand and Alexander counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Alexander. Czosnek gets control of Alexander's arms and successfully pulls guard. Czosnek will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Alexander sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Czosnek's guard. Alexander is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Czosnek is just riding it out for now. Alexander eventually gives up the hold. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alexander is controlling the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alexander throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Czosnek to regain full guard. Alexander trying to control but Czosnek is working from the bottom. Czosnek escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alexander gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Alexander gets to his feet. Czosnek looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Alexander scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alexander tries to pass to full mount but Czosnek defends it. Alexander stands up out of the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A combination from Czosnek does no damage. Alexander darts in and clinches Czosnek up against the cage. Alexander ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Alexander no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alexander is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Alexander breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vlad Czosnek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alexander gets a clinch. Alexander manages to pull guard.
Alexander keeping moving, preventing Czosnek from controlling successfully. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Alexander has momentary wrist control but Czosnek slips an elbow through the middle. Alexander pulls Czosnek in close to his closed guard and prevents Czosnek from doing any damage or advancing position. Alexander has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Czosnek can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Czosnek postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alexander is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Czosnek, into his guard. Alexander pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Czosnek is keeping the position for now. Czosnek is working an open guard so Alexander takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Czosnek fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A low kick from Czosnek is predictable there and Alexander counters with a big head kick but Czosnek shrugs it off. Alexander rushes Czosnek and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Czosnek drops down looking for an ankle pick but Alexander pulls his leg out and moves away.
Czosnek is breathing heavily. A punch combination from Czosnek misses. Alexander lands a head kick. Czosnek smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
It looks like Vlad Czosnek has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Alexander takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Alexander is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The fighters circle, before Alexander throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Czosnek's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Alexander lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
