Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andy Armitage! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Crosher! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crosher closes this distance looking for a takedown but Armitage circles away. Crosher tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Armitage swivels and escapes. Armitage throws a series of strikes that have Crosher backpedaling.
Nice uppercut lands for Armitage. That snapped Crosher's head back.
Armitage rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Crosher moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Crosher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Crosher fails with the takedown. Andy Armitage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Crosher. Armitage moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like Matt Crosher has been cut. Armitage lands a left and a right that send Crosher crashing to the mat, dazed. Armitage thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Crosher is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Armitage throws a combination that misses and Crosher counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Crosher. Crosher is still in real trouble! Can Armitage finish him? Crosher forces his way into half guard. Armitage tries to roll over but Crosher keeps him under control. Armitage on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Armitage tries to get out of the position. Armitage is working hard here to advance position. Crosher is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Crosher seems to have recovered his senses. Armitage wants to sweep but Crosher has passed to side control! Armitage tries to bench press Crosher off him but Crosher keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Armitage is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Armitage wants to get back to full guard. Crosher stops Armitage from getting back to his feet.
Crosher is looking for a kimura but Armitage is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Crosher to get the leverage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Armitage is trying to escape back to his feet but Crosher uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Armitage tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crosher working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Armitage tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Crosher presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Crosher manages to capitalize on a mistake by Armitage to take his back! Crosher looking for the RNC. This has been an exciting period of action! Armitage is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Armitage defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Crosher has the hooks in. Armitage is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Armitage is trying to defend against the choke here but Crosher has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Crosher Tightens the hold and Armitage taps out furiously! Crosher displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Matt Crosher!
