Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between George Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Sabota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sabota has chosen Its Going Down as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Suzuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Sabota!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Suzuki has closed the distance and engaged Sabota in a clinch.
Suzuki is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sabota gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Sabota has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Suzuki avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Suzuki is looking to take this one to the mat.

Suzuki jumps guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sabota accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sabota is looking to work some ground and pound but Suzuki has wrist control.

Suzuki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sabota really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Suzuki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Suzuki manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sabota manages to get himself to full guard.

Sabota has one foot on Suzuki's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Suzuki moves into the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Suzuki darts in trying to clinch
and Sabota makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Suzuki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sabota's waist but Sabota gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Suzuki off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Suzuki. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sabota leaves Suzuki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Suzuki moves in looking to clinch but Sabota pushes him off.
Suzuki shoots in looking for a takedown. Sabota tries to sprawl out of it but Suzuki keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sabota manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Suzuki keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Sabota misses with a takedown attempt - Suzuki sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Suzuki moves to clinch but Sabota breaks away
and Sabota counters with a thumping low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

so Sabota counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Suzuki manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

George Suzuki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Suzuki breaks from Sabota's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Sabota is in a horrible position here. Suzuki smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The referee warns Sabota that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Sabota shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Suzuki pinned against the cage. Suzuki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Sabota counters with a nice uppercut.

Suzuki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sabota is aware though and is defending well.

Suzuki is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Suzuki has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sabota uses from the top position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Suzuki is on top in guard.

Suzuki wants to stand but Sabota has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Suzuki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sabota keeps working.

Suzuki takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Suzuki passes the guard and advances to mount!
Sabota's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Suzuki looking to control but Sabota is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Suzuki is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sabota to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sabota shrugs it off.

Suzuki wants to control the pace but Sabota is squirming around nicely.
Suzuki is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sabota is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Peter Sabota has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Suzuki thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Suzuki misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Suzuki can't control as he wanted to and Sabota manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
George Suzuki showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Suzuki, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
