Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jericho Datu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donald Mastadon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Datu comes into the arena with Ridin Dirty blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

6 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Donald Mastadon! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Datu fails in his attempt to clinch. Datu dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The fight stays on the outside here - Datu looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mastadon with a poor takedown enabling Datu to counter with a crisp jab. Mastadon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Datu scores with a punch to the head. Datu jabs Mastadon right on the nose. Mastadon blinks but takes it well. Mastadon gets caught flat footed, as Datu shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Datu is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Mastadon looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Datu is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Datu thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Datu is looking to work some ground and pound but Mastadon has wrist control. Mastadon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Datu is one step ahead there. Mastadon keeping moving, preventing Datu from controlling successfully.

Mastadon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Datu kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Datu trying to control but Mastadon is working from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mastadon can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mastadon takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Mastadon closes the distance and clinches up with Datu, looking for a takedown. Mastadon pushes Datu against the cage but Datu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Jericho Datu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donald Mastadon. Datu fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mastadon looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mastadon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Datu circles away. Mastadon takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Datu tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mastadon swats him away and circles back towards the center. Donald Mastadon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Datu is looking to clinch. Mastadon misses with a takedown attempt and Datu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Mastadon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Datu sprawls well. Datu wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mastadon gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Datu. Datu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mastadon keeps working. Mastadon is looking for a sweep. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Datu is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mastadon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. What's Mastadon going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle. Datu is trying to land an Americana. That's three minutes gone in the round. Mastadon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Datu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mastadon is looking for a sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Datu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mastadon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Mastadon tries to buck Datu off but Datu is having none of it. Datu in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Mastadon is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
