The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stark throws a lazy right hand but Popov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Stark cracks Popov with an open hand slap.
Good exchange - Stark coming out on top.
Stark tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Popov is able to avoid easily.
Popov tries to close the distance and clinch but Stark swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Popov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Stark is nestled in close to Popov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Stark is taking a breather. Popov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stark might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Popov kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
