And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Donovan!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott Jr throws a jab when Donovan was well out of range.
Abbott Jr misses with a hook.
Abbott Jr throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Donovan counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Abbott Jr is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Donovan moves into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Donovan gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Donovan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Abbott Jr misses with a jab, cross combination.

Donovan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Donovan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Abbott Jr sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Donovan stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Abbott Jr lands a jab-cross combination.
Abbott Jr misses with the combination.

Donovan moves into the clinch successfully.

Donovan gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Donovan slows the pace down in half guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Michael Donovan.
Abbott Jr swinging wildly here.
Abbott Jr connects with a good right hand that stumbles Donovan. Donovan circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Abbott Jr throws a nice looking combination but Donovan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Donovan tries for a takedown but Abbott Jr sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Donovan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Abbott Jr was covering up waiting for the punch and Donovan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Abbott Jr had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Donovan defends it easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Donovan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Abbott Jr circles away.

Donovan scores with the left hand. Abbott Jr knows he should have avoided that one.
Abbott Jr fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Donovan moves into the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Donovan has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Abbott Jr clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Abbott Jr lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Donovan shoots for a double leg takedown but Abbott Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Donovan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

David Abbott Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Donovan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Abbott Jr throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Donovan.
Abbott Jr lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Donovan is looking to clinch but Abbott Jr is avoiding it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Abbott Jr scores with a jab. Donovan acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Donovan tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Abbott Jr sneaks out the side door and pushes Donovan away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Donovan moves in looking to clinch but Abbott Jr pushes him off.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Donovan is defended easily by Abbott Jr.
David Abbott Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Donovan.

Donovan shoots in looking for a takedown but Abbott Jr manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Donovan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
David Abbott Jr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Abbott Jr lands with a nice combination. Donovan backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Michael Donovan has been cut.
Donovan keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Abbott Jr.
Abbott Jr fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Donovan on the side of the head.

Donovan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Abbott Jr's guard.

Donovan takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Abbott Jr looks to land a combination but Donovan avoids it well.
David Abbott Jr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A lazy left from Abbott Jr finds it's target.
Abbott Jr lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Donovan circles away quickly and effectively.
Abbott Jr throws a series of punches but Donovan avoids them all with ease.
Abbott Jr misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Michael Donovan's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Donovan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Abbott Jr tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Donovan is in Abbott Jr's guard.
Donovan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Donovan slips nicely into half guard.
Donovan moves into full mount! Abbott Jr won't be happy about that!
Donovan sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Donovan working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Donovan looking to control but Abbott Jr is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Donovan goes for an armbar but Abbott Jr turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Abbott Jr.

Donovan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Abbott Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Abbott Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Donovan wants to control the position but Abbott Jr says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Abbott Jr tries to stand and escape but Donovan is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Donovan has his hands clasped together around Abbott Jr's back. He's all about the action.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Michael Donovan wasn't active enough on the ground.
Abbott Jr stalks Donovan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Donovan's face. Donovan staggers backwards, shaken.
Abbott Jr moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Donovan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Abbott Jr paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Donovan shoots in for a double leg but Abbott Jr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Donovan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Abbott Jr to the ground. Donovan is now in Abbott Jr's guard.
Donovan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Donovan stands up and waves to Abbott Jr to follow him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michael Donovan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Donovan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
