The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva leaves Hands with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Danga de danga de dang - Hands scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like Jesus Silva has been cut. A punch combination from Hands misses. Hands throws a right and a left that Silva avoids nicely. Hands gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Silva's corner is telling him to maintain position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hands wants to improve his position but instead Silva has moved into half guard.
Silva has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hands defend it? Silva steps over the head and cranks it - Hands is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Silva!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jesus Silva! After the fight, Jesus Silva was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
