Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between TJ Welsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ali Punga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Welsh comes to the cage accompanied by Lets Have A War. Ali Punga has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with TJ Welsh's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, TJ Welsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ali Punga!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punga shoots for a double leg takedown but Welsh sprawls well. He's pushed Punga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Punga closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Welsh quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Punga throws a strike but Welsh avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Welsh looking for a sweep. Not yet Welsh, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Punga working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Punga accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Welsh pulls Punga in close to prevent any damage.
Punga connects with a couple of short punches.
Punga prevents Welsh from getting back to his feet.
Punga in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Punga has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Punga is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Punga wants to control from the top but Welsh keeps moving.

Punga stands up over Welsh, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Welsh is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Welsh avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Punga is in close to Welsh's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Punga throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Welsh works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Punga stands up over Welsh, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Welsh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Punga is one step ahead there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Punga is looking to work some ground and pound but Welsh has wrist control.
Punga postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Punga works over Welsh with some ground and pound from guard.
Punga with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Welsh wants to get back to his feet but Punga is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Welsh working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Punga has passed into half guard!

Punga throwing shots but Welsh is blocking nicely.
Punga drops an elbow to the side of Welsh's head.


Welsh is rocked!
Punga takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Oh Welsh is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Punga connects with a nice short shot to Welsh's temple.
Punga lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Welsh quite badly. Welsh pulls Punga in close trying to recover. Punga postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Welsh on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Welsh doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ali Punga!
