Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Olbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aoki comes to the cage accompanied by come as you are. Olbo has chosen Cant C Me as his entrance music. Drew Olbo struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinya Aoki! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Drew Olbo! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aoki shoots in but Olbo avoids the takedown attempt easily. Olbo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Aoki sprawls well initially but Olbo persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Olbo sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Aoki defending well though. Aoki is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Olbo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Olbo's back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Olbo showing good submission defense here.
I really don't envy Olbo right now.
Aoki doesn't have the hooks in and Olbo manages to turn into his guard.

Olbo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aoki manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Olbo has Aoki in his guard. Aoki works over Olbo with some ground and pound from guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Olbo isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Aoki stacks Olbo on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Aoki! Aoki tries for a kimura but Olbo is defending well. Olbo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Aoki is breathing heavily. Aoki is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Aoki missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Aoki seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Olbo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Aoki seems to be working for a kimura but Olbo defends the submission attempt. Olbo slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Aoki throwing strikes but missing. Aoki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aoki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Aoki shoots in looking for a takedown. Olbo tries to sprawl out of it but Aoki keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Olbo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aoki misses with a takedown attempt and Olbo counters with a two punch combo. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shinya Aoki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Aoki rushes Olbo and presses him up against the cage. Aoki jumps guard and drags Olbo to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Aoki is pulling down on Olbo's head. It's preventing any offense from Olbo, at least for the moment. Aoki looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Aoki keeping full guard, as Olbo tries to pass. Aoki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Olbo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Olbo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Aoki is looking for a triangle but Olbo pushes his legs off easily.
Olbo pushes down on Aoki's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Olbo wants to pass to mount but Aoki is defending the position. Olbo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Olbo seems to be working for a kimura but Aoki defends the submission attempt. Aoki wants to control but Olbo is keeping busy and won't allow it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shinya Aoki dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Jab, jab by Olbo - just one landing. Olbo doesn't succeed with the takedown and Aoki counters with a single leg into guard. Olbo didn't expect that. Olbo is looking for a triangle but Aoki pushes his legs off easily.
Aoki wants to pass the guard but Olbo is keeping the position. Olbo is looking to stand up but Aoki isn't so interested in that idea. Olbo trying to keep a closed guard but Aoki is proving a slippery customer.
Aoki trying to control but Olbo is working from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Olbo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aoki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Olbo controls Aoki momentarily but Aoki frees himself.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Aoki gets in close and instigates a clinch. Aoki has hold of one of Olbo's legs. Olbo is fighting the takedown attempt but Aoki gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Aoki postures up.
Olbo is looking to stand up but Aoki isn't so interested in that idea. Aoki tries to free his leg and advance position but Olbo is retaining full guard. Olbo tries to land a sweep but no joy. Olbo controls Aoki momentarily but Aoki frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Olbo throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Olbo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Aoki manages to get himself to full guard.
Olbo throwing strikes from guard but Aoki blocks nicely. Aoki can't keep his opponent in guard - Olbo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Olbo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Olbo stands up out of the half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Olbo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Aoki's guard. Olbo trying to control but Aoki is working from the bottom. Aoki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Aoki is trying to control the position but Olbo postures up. Olbo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Aoki is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Olbo has his hands clasped together but Aoki extends an breaks Olbo's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Aoki.
