Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muso Ferria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferria decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McCarthy wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ferria is pressing down on McCarthy's thigh, looking to free his foot. McCarthy is holding on for now.
McCarthy tries to kick Ferria off but Ferria keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ferria is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McCarthy is just riding it out for now. Ferria eventually gives up the hold.

Ferria is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McCarthy has managed to free his arm - good work.
McCarthy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McCarthy tries to get out of the position.

McCarthy has one foot on Ferria's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
McCarthy shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ferria eats them both and turns towards McCarthy to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
McCarthy misses with a few strikes there.

Ferria dodges the punch combination from McCarthy.
McCarthy fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McCarthy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McCarthy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McCarthy's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and McCarthy duly obliges.

Ferria shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Ferria working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Ferria stops McCarthy from getting back to his feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ferria in particular looking to stall.
McCarthy tries to kick Ferria off but Ferria keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Ferria should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ferria slips a nice elbow through McCarthy's hands, connecting with McCarthy's forehead.

Ferria is trying to work for a kimura but McCarthy is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ferria decides to return to a standing position.
McCarthy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ferria looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

McCarthy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ferria to score an easy takedown into full guard.

McCarthy can't keep his opponent in guard - Ferria advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
McCarthy is trying to stand back up but Ferria is controlling him
Ferria is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Ferria is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Ferria stands up and beckons McCarthy to join him on the feet.
McCarthy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ferria closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McCarthy to the mat! McCarthy manages to get full guard.

Ferria seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ferria is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! McCarthy is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
