Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chad Harkleroad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thracian Spartacus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harkleroad comes to the cage accompanied by I am a real American. Chad Harkleroad has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chad Harkleroad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thracian Spartacus!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spartacus shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Harkleroad defends it nicely.

Spartacus tries to sprawl but Harkleroad drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Harkleroad passes to side control.
Harkleroad could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Spartacus tries to improve position but can't.
Harkleroad wants to lay and pray for a moment but Spartacus keeps working.
Spartacus wants to control but Harkleroad postures up.
Harkleroad takes a little break here. Spartacus wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Harkleroad wants to control but Spartacus is keeping him busy.
You can see the frustration on Spartacus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Harkleroad in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Harkleroad stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Spartacus doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Harkleroad counters with a shoot takedown. Spartacus fights it but they end up in guard.
Harkleroad slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Harkleroad lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Spartacus down.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Harkleroad just content to control the position.

Harkleroad tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Spartacus avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Harkleroad.
Harkleroad wants to lay and pray for a moment but Spartacus keeps working.
Spartacus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harkleroad. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Harkleroad decides to stand back up. Harkleroad steps back and let's Spartacus get back to his feet.
Spartacus shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Harkleroad pinned against the cage. Harkleroad gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Chad Harkleroad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thracian Spartacus.

Harkleroad might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Harkleroad wants to control from the top but Spartacus keeps moving.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Spartacus can do anything to dispel that myth.
Spartacus wants to control but Harkleroad passes into side.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Harkleroad wants to lay and pray for a moment but Spartacus keeps working.

Harkleroad is trying to get an arm triangle but Spartacus is defending well.

Harkleroad has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Spartacus shoots in for a takedown but Harkleroad shows good takedown defense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Harkleroad closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Spartacus did well to prevent Harkleroad getting side control.

Harkleroad is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Harkleroad wants to control but Spartacus is keeping him busy.

Harkleroad is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Harkleroad has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Spartacus works to full guard.

Harkleroad thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Spartacus looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Harkleroad passes into side control.

Harkleroad is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Spartacus has escaped the position, nice work there.
Harkleroad looks up at the clock and then as Spartacus takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Harkleroad smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Harkleroad decides to stand back up.
Spartacus shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Harkleroad pinned against the cage. Harkleroad gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Harkleroad seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Spartacus does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Harkleroad is working for a kimura but Spartacus is defending it quite comfortably.
Harkleroad tries to pass the half guard into mount. Spartacus knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Harkleroad wants to take a breather but Spartacus is having none of it.
Harkleroad is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Spartacus is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Chad Harkleroad overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Spartacus tries to get to full guard but Harkleroad has control of the leg.

Spartacus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Harkleroad pulls his head out easily.
Well, if Harkleroad is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

We're going to have a standup here because Chad Harkleroad wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Spartacus gets caught napping as Harkleroad dives in and scores a takedown. Spartacus manages to retain guard.
Harkleroad in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Harkleroad is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Spartacus can do to turn this around?

Spartacus can't keep his opponent in guard - Harkleroad advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Harkleroad is trying to control. Spartacus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Spartacus is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Harkleroad scores with a couple of nice shots.
Harkleroad moves into full mount! Spartacus won't be happy about that!
This has been an exciting period of action!
BOOM! Harkleroad connects with a massive shot to the dome!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Spartacus is in a horrible position here. Harkleroad smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Harkleroad shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Spartacus but Spartacus pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Harkleroad has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Spartacus is proving hard to escape from.

Spartacus has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Harkleroad has passed into side control.
Harkleroad is looking to take a break and control but Spartacus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spartacus tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Spartacus is squirming around, avoiding Harkleroad's attempts to control the action.

Spartacus tries to hold on but Harkleroad pushes him away.
Harkleroad trying to control but Spartacus is having none of it.
Spartacus tries to control Harkleroad's body but Harkleroad pushes him off. Spartacus squirms to his side and now Harkleroad has his back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Spartacus staying busy and making it hard for Harkleroad to control.
Spartacus rolls, trying to escape but Harkleroad keeps control of the position.

Harkleroad looking for the choke but no joy.

Harkleroad seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Spartacus's chin but Spartacus turns very nicely into Harkleroad's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Spartacus.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Spartacus throws a big right hand that misses.

Spartacus keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Harkleroad's head.
Spartacus stands up over Harkleroad, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Thracian Spartacus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Harkleroad looking for a triangle here. Spartacus is fighting it but it looks tight! Harkleroad pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Spartacus is tapping out - this one is all over!
