PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zaine Lovell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Hagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Henry Hagan was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Zaine Lovell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Hagan!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lovell throws a series of punches but Hagan moves out of range.
Hagan closes the distance and clinches up with Lovell, looking for a takedown. Hagan pushes Lovell against the cage but Lovell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lovell misses with a hook to the body
and Hagan counters with an outside leg kick.
Hagan has his takedown stuffed
and Lovell counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Lovell throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hagan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lovell is in Hagan's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hagan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lovell's guard.

Lovell looking for a guillotine here but Hagan defends easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hagan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hagan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lovell working for a triangle but Hagan defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lovell wants to stand but Hagan is controlling the position.

Lovell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hagan defends it easily.

Lovell working for submissions but it's allowed Hagan to get to half guard.

Hagan wants to work for an arm triangle but Lovell is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lovell is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lovell is not content to let Hagan control the position.
Hagan trying to pass the guard but Lovell defending well.
Hagan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lovell tries to kick Hagan off in order to stand up. Hagan Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Hagan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lovell keeps working.
Lovell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hagan on the ground.
Hagan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lovell kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lovell trying his best to control but Hagan has mounted him.
Hagan controlling the pace for now.
Hagan trying to control but Lovell is having none of it.

Lovell defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hagan.
Hagan with shots to the head and body - Lovell looks very uncomfortable down there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lovell is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lovell tries to hold on but Hagan pushes him away.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hagan moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Lovell has worked his arm free - good work by Lovell!
Lovell is looking to regain half guard here but Hagan keeps moving and retains side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Henry Hagan will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lovell fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Lovell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hagan tries to clinch but Lovell moves out of range.

Hagan avoids the head kick by Lovell.

Lovell fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Hagan darts in trying to clinch
and Lovell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hagan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lovell.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hagan.
Lovell looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Lovell backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Hagan's temple! It sends Hagan violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Lovell celebrates and the doctors try to help Hagan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Zaine Lovell!
