Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Tolbert! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sendou Takeshi! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tolbert shoots in and drives through. Takeshi sprawls well. Takeshi is looking to clinch but Tolbert is avoiding it.
Takeshi moves to clinch but Tolbert breaks away and Tolbert counters by moving into the clinch. Tolbert looking for a takedown. Takeshi scores a nice knee to the body.
Takeshi tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Takeshi using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Tolbert has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Takeshi is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Tolbert is defending well for now. Takeshi's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Takeshi is looking to control Tolbert's arms but Tolbert gets an underhook and turns him. Now Takeshi has his back to the cage. Tolbert tries to land a knee to the head but Takeshi blocks with his arms.

Tolbert turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Tolbert manages to end up in side control. Takeshi tries to buck Tolbert off but Tolbert is having none of it. Tolbert decides to stand up, so the ref orders Takeshi to his feet. Tolbert misses with a series of wild punches.
Takeshi moves into the clinch. Tolbert tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Tolbert pulls Takeshi into guard.
Tolbert is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tolbert wants to get back to his feet but Takeshi is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tolbert pulls Takeshi in close to prevent any damage. Tolbert keeping moving, preventing Takeshi from controlling successfully. Tolbert not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tolbert doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tolbert scores with a nice shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tolbert is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Tolbert seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Takeshi is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Takeshi wants to control but Tolbert is keeping busy.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Takeshi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tolbert. The crowd cheers as Tolbert lands an impressive looking overhand right. Takeshi doesn't seem phased though. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Takeshi misses with a takedown attempt - Tolbert sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Tolbert pushes Takeshi up against the cage in a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tolbert is defended easily by Takeshi. Tolbert takes the fight into the clinch. Takeshi prevents the takedown attempt.

Takeshi comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Takeshi tries to stall but Tolbert uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Takeshi tries to clinch but Tolbert is having none of it. Tolbert fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Takeshi to the ground. Tolbert is now in Takeshi's guard. Tolbert stands and steps away. Takeshi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Tolbert has managed to clinch.
Tolbert blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Takeshi is trying to maintain a safe position but Tolbert gets an underhook and turns Takeshi into the cage. A short right hand to the side of the head by Tolbert. Takeshi is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Tolbert blocks an elbow strike. Tolbert takes an elbow to the forehead. Takeshi looking to throw knees to the head but Tolbert is blocking nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tolbert is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Takeshi is defending well. Takeshi landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Takeshi gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Tolbert.
Tolbert is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Tolbert drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Takeshi gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Takeshi keeps control of Tolbert as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Tolbert is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Takeshi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Takeshi scores a nice knee to the body.

Sendou Takeshi seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Tolbert lands a takedown into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Tolbert pushes down on Takeshi's leg and manages to get into half guard. Tolbert seems to be working for a kimura but Takeshi defends the submission attempt. Takeshi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tolbert. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takeshi is trying to stand.
Tolbert trying to control the pace. Tolbert seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Takeshi for as long as he can get away with. Tolbert passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Takeshi!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tolbert controlling the position easily from mount. Takeshi tries to reverse the position but Tolbert maintains control. Tolbert manages to capitalize on a mistake by Takeshi to take his back! Tolbert lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takeshi is trying to get back to his feet but Tolbert has full control of the position and if anything, Takeshi has just worked his way into a worse spot. Tolbert working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Takeshi is doing well to defend. Tolbert seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Takeshi is forced to tap and this one is over!
