Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Verbiah Sozefay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sozefay comes into the arena with Eye of the Tiger blaring out of the sound system. Mike Henry has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Verbiah Sozefay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Henry! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sozefay throws a nice head kick!
Sozefay lands a nice shot that snaps Henry's head back.
Sozefay slips a jab from Henry. Henry takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Sozefay falls off balance throwing a combination
and Henry counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Henry lands a jab to the nose. Sozefay lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Henry uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sozefay. Henry fails with the takedown. Sozefay takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sozefay throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Henry. Verbiah Sozefay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sozefay throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sozefay tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Henry scores with the left hand. Sozefay knows he should have avoided that one. Sozefay swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Henry counters with a lovely straight right hand! Sozefay lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Henry circles away quickly and effectively.
That's one minute gone in the round. A punch combination from Sozefay misses. Sozefay misses with a low kick. Henry moves out of range of the body kick from Sozefay.
Henry closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Henry tries to move to mount but Sozefay blocks the move with his legs. Henry scores with punches from side control. Sozefay is working to avoid the ground and pound but Henry connects with a decent elbow. Sozefay dodges the ground and pound from Henry. Henry throwing shots but missing, from side control. Henry has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sozefay manages to work his way to half guard, despite Henry's best efforts. Sozefay might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Henry thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sozefay's head. Henry looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sozefay with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Henry missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Henry is pressing down on Sozefay's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sozefay is holding on for now. Henry throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Sozefay is looking to improve his position.
Henry with the ground and pound but Sozefay uses the opportunity to regain guard. Henry loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sozefay avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Sozefay knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Henry on the ground. Henry in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sozefay is breathing heavily. Henry tries to free his leg and advance position but Sozefay is retaining full guard. Henry trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Henry slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Henry is putting a hurting on Sozefay here, landing some big shots from side control. Sozefay on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Henry tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Henry lands a few punches from side control. Henry throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Henry creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Henry postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sozefay managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Henry.
Henry lands a decent elbow from side control.
Sozefay is rocked! Henry scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Sozefay is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Henry can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Henry!
