Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Mousaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Polk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mousaki comes into the arena with souljacker blaring out of the sound system. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenji Mousaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Polk! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Polk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mousaki counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Mousaki throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mousaki feints a jab promting Polk to slip. Mousaki then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Polk slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Mousaki tries to bum rush Polk with a series of wild strikes but Polk uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Polk avoids the body shot from Mousaki.
Polk blocks a head kick by Mousaki.
Polk misses with a takedown and Mousaki counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Mousaki scores with a takedown into Polk's guard. Polk looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Polk looking for a sweep. Not yet Polk, not yet. Polk keeping full guard, as Mousaki tries to pass. Polk is looking for a triangle but Mousaki pushes his legs off easily.
Mousaki wants to control from the top but Polk keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mousaki is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Polk is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Polk has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mousaki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mousaki throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Polk works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Polk working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mousaki. Mousaki stays in close to Polk's body and controls the position. Polk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mousaki is one step ahead there. Mousaki lands a couple of elbows. Mousaki stands up from Polk's guard - Mousaki perhaps looking for a knockout. Mousaki throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mousaki misses with a low kick.
Nice takedown defense from Mousaki. No joy for Polk on that attempt. Kenji Mousaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Polk. A telegraphed right hand from Mousaki misses the target. Polk is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mousaki sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Mousaki looks to land a combination but Polk avoids it well. Polk with a lazy takedown attempt and Mousaki counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Mousaki bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. This has been an exciting period of action! Mousaki lands a few punches from side control. Polk sneaks back into half guard. Polk looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Polk on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Polk on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Mousaki winds up and cracks Polk with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Polk is trying to get back to full guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Polk makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Polk. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Polk can't keep his opponent in guard - Mousaki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Polk regains full guard. Nicely done. Mousaki is pushing down on Polk's leg trying to pass to half guard. Polk is fighting to maintain full guard but Mousaki has managed to sneak the leg through. Polk wants to improve his position but Mousaki is controlling well.
Polk looking for submissions off his back. Polk won't allow Mousaki to pass to mount. Mousaki is working hard here to advance position. Mousaki is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Polk! Mousaki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Polk wants to hold on but Mousaki pushes him away. Polk is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Polk regains half guard. Mousaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Polk keeps working. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Polk won't allow Mousaki to pass to mount. Polk makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Polk. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mousaki's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Polk working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mousaki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mousaki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mousaki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Polk swivels though and keeps the full guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Polk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mousaki is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kenji Mousaki dominated that round. That's time! Mousaki's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Polk doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Mousaki looks to land a right hand but Polk moved out of range. Mousaki gets a takedown into half guard. Mousaki prevents Polk from improving his position. Polk looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kenji Mousaki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Polk looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mousaki connects with a nice short shot to Polk's temple. Mousaki wants to free his trapped foot but Polk is holding on for dear life with his legs. Polk gets back to full guard.

Polk is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mousaki defends well. Polk is breathing heavily. Polk working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mousaki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mousaki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mousaki chips away with some ground and pound. Mousaki postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Mousaki passes Polk's left leg - he's now in half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mousaki connects with a nice short shot to Polk's temple. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mousaki lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Polk is rocked! Mousaki has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Polk defend it? Mousaki steps over the head and cranks it - Polk is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Mousaki!
